Video Clips

The "Swish Method" is a simple, powerful way to approach the learning
and coaching of basketball shooting. It explains how to make jump shots,
free throws, 3's, shots off the dribble, catch and shoot shots, inside shots
and runners and floaters, all with the same basic stroke. Swish, the original
56-minute video created in 1997 is a "classic," discussing the understandings
involved in becoming a great shooter. Swish 2 is in greater detail, a two-hour
completion" of the Method, showing step-by-step how to both learn and
coach this way of shooting.

Below are links to video clips from both videos.

A: FLASH CLIPS FROM THE NEW "SWISH 2" DVD

Click here (Swish 2 Flash Clips) to see a sample from "Swish 2."
These clips give a short Introduction to what the DVD is about.

Note: If you don't have the Flash player on your computer, click below
to download a free version of it from Macromedia.

B: FLASH CLIPS FROM ORIGINAL "SWISH" DVD/Video

When the original Swish video was converted to DVD format in 2004. we added six minutes of Shooting Clips at the end of the both the Swish DVD and the revised VHS tape video. They reveal just how simple and effective the Swish Method is. Twenty players are shown from Indiana, Chicago and California shooting "lights out," making swish after swish after swish. (These players are seen throughout the "Swish 2" DVD just released.)

To view these clips, you need to have broadband (high-speed Cable, DSL, etc.), otherwise it will take too long to run. You can try to view them with dial-up, if you have the correct "Flash" software, but it's mostly download time and then a few seconds at a time of the clips.

Note: If you don't have the Flash player on your computer, click below
to download a free version of it from Macromedia.

These Flash clips are stored on a big file server in Arizona. You do NOT download it before viewing it. You simply click and it will be "streamed" to your computer as you view it. The quality is very good, much better than previous video viewing technology.

C. SHORT INSTRUCTIONAL CLIPS FROM SWISH
(Older video media technology)

Below are four short video clips from the instructional part of the original "Swish" video and DVD. They will give you a feel for the video content and the quality of the production. They're done in the older "Media Player" video technology.

PLEASE NOTE: These are just a total of 2 minutes out of 57. They reveal only a tiny bit of what's there, but they show the kind of coaching that's in the video. I'm not into rules and formulas, stand this way, do this with the fingers, etc. I do give suggestions about stance and grip, etc., but I'm more into awareness and discovery related to the flight of the ball, within the structure of powerful distinctions that work. When you do what I suggest, you will get immediate results. It will feel comfortable and natural and the ball will go into the basket. That will prove to you that you're onto something powerful.

FEEDBACK: Please give me feedback (Email Tom) after you view the clips. If you order the video based partly on what you saw in the clips, I'd love to know that. This whole video technology is fascinating to me and I need to get better at understanding and using it. Thanks.

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER: These clips have been digitized to work with Windows Media Player, available on various platforms (Windows, Macintosh, Unix, etc.).

WHAT SPEED: Whether you choose the High speed version of the Low Speed version depends, I believe, on your modem and line speed. The High Speed clips are bigger and will take longer to download but give better quality to the video picture.

The four clips are the following:

Clip 1: INTRODUCTION
Clip 2: THE CONSTANT RELEASE (...one of my key principles)
Clip 3: FLIGHT OF THE BALL (...more important than how you stand, etc.)
Clip 4: SET POINT & ELBOW/FOREARM (...an example of a "Fundamental")

High Speed:

Clip #1, 22 seconds (High speed)
Clip #2, 25 seconds (High speed)
Clip #3, 42 seconds (High speed)
Clip #4, 33 seconds (High speed)

Low Speed:

Clip #1, 22 seconds (Low speed)
Clip #2, 25 seconds (Low speed)
Clip #3, 42 seconds (Low speed)
Clip #4, 33 seconds (Low speed)

Instructions for downloading the Windows Media Player

If you don't have the Media Player installed, here is how to get it. Go to this Microsoft website: Microsoft Downloads.

Then, by a pull-down menu, tell it your...

Product Name: "Windows Media Player"
Operating System: "Windows 98," "Macintosh," "Unix," etc.

Then click "Find It" and follow the instructions to download and install the software.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
A comment about compatibility

If you have a problem getting the clips to launch the Media Player automatically, try opening the Media Player first and then pull down the File menu to select "Open File," and then paste in the URL you want (see below). You could also do this with Real Media's Player.

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER (Copy and paste these URL's, High and Low speed):
