----------------------------------------------------------------- You have not only managed to answer any outstanding questions I still had, but also have done an excellent job in teaching important routines in order to learn the PURE RELEASE (PRD) and to CATCH THE UPFORCE. My son (Michael) and I have watched the complete video twice and plan to watch it again & again. Each time we have watched it, we pick up important tips. Just one of the many things it has taught us, is how to practice in order to learn the true feeling of CATCHING THE UPFORCE. The Importance of the UPFORCE motion is very well explained. More height with less effort. We had never really felt the true effect of the UPFORCE before. WOW! What a feeling! Another important tip was "If there was only one instruction, it would be to shoot earlier in the jumping down/up motion that powers a shot". Actually every motion in the shooting process is very well explained. I liked the way that the comentator explained the motion and you repeatedly showed the action/motion. Tom - you should be very proud of this accomplishment. Ever since I started to learn your shooting method (almost 2 years now), I have been more aware of the fact that players in our home town do not have a good-consistent shot. From what I have observed, the coaches do not know how to shoot and as a result, the players do not know how to shoot consistently. This is why I started to search on the internet for a shooting method. I feel so fortunate that I stumbled upon your web site. I have followed your news letters each month and have both of your videos. I have come a long way. From not being able to shoot worth beans, to being able to shoot consistently from 20 feet in to the basket. As a result of my improvement, my 14 year old son, Michael, is now being trained by ME. Can you believe that? He now has the most consistent shot on the highschool JV team. I have you to thank - Tom. The only regret I have is that I did not purchase your video soon enough. I followed and learned from your newsletters for months before purchasing your SWISH 1 VIDEO. That was a mistake. I should have purchased your video immediately. Anyone, who wants to be a consistent/excellent shooter, would be well advised to follow your newsletters and most importantly - purchase your videos. Your method/system is so gdg that it gives you the edge in being able to make a team and get time on the floor (not to mention the soaring confidence). The only problem for you Tom, is that it is actually so good that we do not want to share it with the other team members, as it gives us the edge. Why would we want the other team members to shoot 9 -3's in a row or 30 foul shots in a row. Fly Like An Eagle - Learn The Swish Method - Control The Flight Of The Ball To The Basket. GUARANTEED. Thanks again, Tom! Bill D., Fredericton - New Brunswick,
Canada I received it in the mail. Watched it and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. Swish 2 was simply amazing and definitely a lot better than Swish 1. It was wonderfully put together and very easy to understand. In my opinion Swish 1 was really just a Demo compared to Swish 2. Mr. Nordland all praise goes to you for creating such a great and inspiring video. I went to the court the same day after I watched the video and played some pick-up games and made every shot from everywhere. Everyone was amazed and I couldn't be stopped. Thanks to you, I have now completely mastered The Swish Method and I now have the perfect weapon to succeed in college basketball and basketball period. Thank you again Mr. Nordland. The price for the video could never repay the gift you have given me. --Evan L., East Amherst, NY (age 18) EDITOR'S NOTE: Evan wrote the above after saying the following to me in a letter a few weeks before getting Swish 2: "Dear Tom, Thanks a million for creating the Swish video. It is simply "magical!" Your method and approach to shooting is above the rest. I have tried to tell others of your method but they seem to just not accept it. I myself have fallen in love with this way of shooting and I hope to take it to the next level. With your method and my knowledge of the game, I know I have what it takes to play somewhere, whether it be in the NBA, NBDL, or even overseas. Thanks a million, Mr. Nordland, for such a great gift! Your biggest fan and student." - - Evan. L. (It's all relative. Swish is a great video. Swish 2 dwarfs it by comparison, but Swish is still a great introduction to the Method.) ----------------------------------------------------------------- "I did a review on the original Swish video a couple years ago. Its available in the Topic Menu (website: www.akcoach.com), upper right-hand corner of this site. I highly recommend the first Swish video. It is loaded with ways to teach the Swish method. "'Swish 2' brings the essence of great shooting to you in a 1 hour 56 minute package. Grab a latte and a notepad and watch it. If you don't have a notepad, don't worry. When the video is over, you will understand the method. I think any ordinary parent or player could view this DVD, view it, and understand exactly what Tom talks about - and feel motivated to go right out and try it. "Experienced coaches (with built in biases about how shooting should be taught) may feel like there should be more technical input, but then they would be missing the point. The Swish Method is supposed to be simple and easy to learn. I found it very well organized and explained. I'll share four essential elements of shooting discussed in the video. "..... The first point covered
in the Swish 2 video is a concept Tom calls "Upforce".
It takes advantage of the natural power of the body as the player
straightens up or jumps. Once the kids get the knack (its easy)
of releasing the ball a little earlier than they are used to,
they suddenly find they have much more range and consistency.
You can practice this by shooting against a wall until it feels
comfortable. I think one of the biggest problems our kids had
was an established habit of shooting at the peak of their jump
(another misguided coaching axiom). Once they understood the
"Upforce", their shots clicked. The kids relaxed, became
confident. Their shots went in. "Obviously I am very excited about what we have learned about shooting. I feel like I know exactly what I need to teach. The Swish 2 video gives you that kind of confidence. I know what it is like to see the expectant faces of my players, all wondering what I have to offer their basketball futures. You know that look, too. Invest just two hours with Tom Nordland and his Swish 2 DVD, and you will be able to look them in the eye, feel sure that you have a simple, explainable shooting methodology that will provide immediate results."
