Swish Shooting Coaches

Below is an introduction to four coaches who are being trained by Tom Nordland to coach the Swish way of shooting. They understand the principles very well and can help give you a deep understanding of this approach to shooting. Contact them directly for information about private sessions, clinics, etc.  I'm sorry the photos don't appear yet.  We're working on this bug.

COACHES' TRAINING:  Tom is developing a "Coaches Training" program for anyone interested in learning how to coach the Swish way of shooting.  The first step is to get the videos and work on  your own shot.  As you learn to shoot yourself, it will become more and more apparent how to coach others.  If you can't do the Swish Method well (or at least understand it at a deep level), how can you coach it?

Secondly, there is now a Swish eBook Shooting Manual that will show step-by-step how to coach this great skill.  It's available on the Coaching page.  It will also soon include a 4-module eCourse you can listen to that will explain the Manual, the approach, the how's, why's, etc.  It will also have some real Q&A's from coaches who helped create the modules and will include a quiz which is part of the coaches' training process.  Successful completion of the four modules and tests and the coach will be added to a growing database of Swish coaches, Level 1 (given permission to start coaching with the title of "Swish" coach-in-training).

Click on " You can become a Swish Shooting Coach" for more details.

Ernest Johnson, Washington, D.C.

Ernest Johnson grew up in New York City and learned his basketball fundamentals at the Millbank Children Aid Society.  He went on to play at the famed Riverside Hawks AAU program.  He then played his senior year at Brooklyn Technical High School in New York.  He has continued to play adult recreation
basketball since the late 1980's.

In 2003 Ernest found Tom Nordland's shooting system, called the "Swish Shooting
Method
."  Tom's website is the #1 educational and informational basketball shooting website on the entire internet.  Since that time, Ernest has been Tom's #1 shooting instructor-in-training.  He has conducted clinics in the states of Maine, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.  In 2006 he was renamed "Professor Swish" to acknowledge his excellent teaching of the method.

His training techniques have prepared him to help many basketball players improve their outside and free throw shooting percentages.  Some of the players Professor Swish has introduced the Swish Method to include Baby Shaq and Kenny "The Bad One" Brunner of the And1 mix tour, Nat Burton of the CBA, Frank Elegar (Drexel) and Shawn Pruitt (Illinois), who both played in the 2008 NBA Summer League, Arminte Price and Sylvia Fowles of the WNBA Chicago Sky, and Marty Collins of the NBA New York Knicks.

Professor Swish knows that any baskeball player who wants to improve their shooting can make progress in less than four hours of training, guaranteed.  He just wishes all coaches, parents and serious players would investigate this simple-yet-powerful way to shoot.

Todd Kozinka, Sooke, British Columbia

Todd has played and coached basketball for over 30 years. Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Todd was a First Team All-Star in High School at Eric Hamber Secondary in 1983. He then went on to play University basketball at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby.

He is very proud to have played on scholarship for 4 years and to have traveled to many different countries. It was here where he developed a love for travel and ultimately went on to use his basketball experience to see the world.  This was the beginning of the concept of Planet Hoops. Todd has spent his career coaching elementary, high school, college, university and pro athletes in Canada, Germany, Austria and Australia.

He has seen the international game first hand and believes the future of basketball lies in the global game. Planet Hoops is devoted to promoting basketball worldwide and to helping kids of all ages to gain the same benefits he received from playing the best game in the world.

(NOTE from Tom:  I have not seen Todd coach in person, but we have been in touch for many years and I am sure he understands the Swish Method very well and will do an excellent job of teaching awareness and increasing a student's trust.  The result will be powerful learning.)
