By Coach Steve Jordan, of the "Coach's Notebook" website
"The Coach's Notebook has been offering advice to basketball coaches since July, 1999. It has always been a voluntary, ad-free site.
"I receive offers for product affiliation almost every day. However, I have always ignored them because I either didn't like the product or I mistrusted the organization. I have heard many stories and seen cases where affiliates do not pay, set unreasonable minimum standards before awarding payments or require distracting banners and pop-up windows placed prominently on the site. I don't want to put up with any of that.
"When I saw Coach Nordland's video, I hoped this affiliation opportunity would be an exception. It was a perfect product for my website. I could certainly endorse it for my readers, but could I trust the payment process to be trustworthy and hassle-free? Well, the answer is a resounding YES! After three months of participation I have received three prompt checks. All I had to do was insert the short html code into the links that go to Nordland's site. Banners are offered, but not required. Further I can go to the affiliate agency's site and review my account. Tom emails me regularly with promotional ideas and overall progress. I couldn't be happier with the arrangement.
"So, what benefits have I received? Well, the benefits are two-fold.
"One, the commissions funded my new domain name, www.akcoach.com. They also cover my monthly internet service fees. Now my site is really free.
"Two, I presented Coach Nordland's methods to my team, and the results have been measurable. In the years I have been keeping records, our team has averaged an overall shooting percentage of .412 from the floor. Our opponent's have shot .394 (this is for 9th grade boys). However, as I completed the stats for this season, I noticed our shooting percentage was .465! Not every player improved because some are reluctant to change their habits. But the kids who did work to change, had strong results. I do a top ten list list each year for several statistical categories. This year, six 2002 players moved into the top ten for shooting percentage! Here are the results:"
Player Year Pctg.
Zack Bowman 2000 .705
Devon Bethune 2002 .639
Steve Hinton 2002 .633
Antonio Darby 2002 .563
Bryant Greene 1999 .520
Carl Halcombe 2002 .500
Tyler Blewett 1999 .498
Taurean Morgan 1999 .493
Kyle Regan 2002 .491
Brian Messineo 2002 .487
"I am very pleased, both with the affiliation program and the quality of the teaching tools."
